Launching from the Moon

My partner and I worked on launching from the moon lab. We had to launch a straw and objects up a string using a balloon. We didn't accomplish our task but we leaned more about how every action has an equal and opposite reaction because te balloon forced air out one way and it moved the opposite direction. We think this is important for M2M because we will need to know a lot about pressure and forcing air to move things.

Lego Robotics

in this lab i worked with rose and kimmy to make a lego robot go through a gate made out of lego it was very tricky to get all the timeing right but we figuered out that if we increase just the time or the speed it will work better. in the end we got it to work and go through the gate but it took about five trys and each time we had to adjust someting little to make it work.

Building stuff is not my forte!!!

Today in labs i worked with Gabby and Sam. we had to build eachothers lego things with the pieces we were given. it was very challenging i had to help sam build hers and gabby helped me build mine and sam helped gabby build hers. we had to figureout the best way to communicate with eachother without giving the wrong directions. at the end we were a little bit off so we couldn't put them together. in mission to mars i am sure we will have to build something out of the materials we have and with someone telling (not showing) us to do.

Lilly being a spy!!! her mission: get past the evil motion detectors!

Today in labs we used motion detectors to learn about velocity acceleration and speed. we did experiments where we had to match the line given to us and see what kinds of moments would make it go up and down or stay the same. it was very interesting. i was a little confused about why the velocity went down even when i stoped, but then i figured out that it was going down because i wasnt moving or speeding up. acceleration is a another word for speed so when you speed up you acceleration line goes up and when you slow down the line goes down with you. it was all very interesting.

Lilly's beach house (with no beach) on the moon.

Lilly has decided to move to the moon for he summer and visit her house there. she is very excited becuase she recently had a swimming pool installed. she is wondering what the difference will be when she jumps in to a swimming pool on the moon and jumps in a swiming pool on the earth so she asks her magical cat to explaine it to her.
her cat siad " since the moon has a smaller gravitaionaly pull then the earth you will not fall as fast. but when you hit the water you wont go into the water very far you might actualy go back up into the air because of the boyancy pullng you upwards but once you are out of the water again you will fall bag down and the same thing will happen agian".
"Gee thanks" said lilly "i am sure i will have a great time"

Lab #2

Today for my second lab I worked with Maddy. We were instructed to create a parachute that could stay in the air while having a hair dryer blowing under it. At first we made a very small parachute with small strings, but the object were trying to lift was to heavy and the hair dryer could no hold it up. we decided to make a bigger parachute with londer strings, because the little one was not catching the air well enough. The bigger one worked really well and was really steady. we tryed it of of the stairs for a longer fall and it flew perfectly with a few minor movments side to side. so we diceded to cut a small hole in the top to see if we could make it perfectly smooth. it worked. unfortunatly we ran out of time. I would have liked to have made more parachutes and try different technics to make them fly smoother like making a bigger whole.

Lab #1

Today for my first lab i worked with Louisa and Madiera. our task was to build a robot that could piick up a moon rock/film canister. while we were building it we got very confused in the beginnig we didnt really know what to do or how to put the pieces together. but we soon figured it out it was really fun piecing all of the things together. i am wondering if this has anything to do with mision to mars. i am sure that in someway it does but i dont know if we will be building any robots on the ship.
